Actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson isn not on board with the “snowflake generation,” according to an interview with the U.K.’s Daily Star published on Friday.
Johnson said that that snowflakes’ PC complaints are a disservice to the war heroes who fought for freedom of speech.
“So many good people fought for freedom and equality, but this generation are looking for a reason to be offended,” The Rock said. “If you are not agreeing with them then they are offended, and that is not what so many great men and women fought for.”
Though he concedes that society has come a long way and that freedom of identity is a positive thing, he also believes that “generation snowflake” is actually impeding progress.
“We thankfully now live in a world that has progressed over the last 30 or 40 years,” Johnson said. “People can be who they want, be with who they want, and live how they want. That can only be a good thing, but generation snowflake, or whatever you want to call them, are actually putting us backwards.”
The actor did not elaborate on what exactly Generation Snowflake is doing to put us “backwards,” but points to the Constitution as his lodestar.
“I don’t have to agree with what somebody thinks, who they vote for, what they voted for, what they think, but I will back their right to say or believe it,” said Johnson. “That’s democracy.”
Though the interview has seen a lot of support from social media, it’s also been met with backlash.

@TheRock has lost all of my respect. while ‘generation snowflake’, as you so ignorantly put it, is trying to stop school shootings and prevent anti-minority legislation to protect ourselves, cishet male wrestlers are complaining about how we’re moving the world backward.

The Rock’s offended by “Generation Snowflake” turns out The Rock was cooking Gammon all along. 😢

The irony of his statement is that he says he thinks people are too easily offended yet doesn’t clarify because he probably doesn’t want to offend. This statement is a bravado about nothing but the word snowflake has political ties so some people will agree to a empty statement
