HBO orders a pilot for the Game of Thrones prequel by Jane Goldman and George R. R. Martin

The cast of Game of Thrones recently had a wonderful time at the Game of Thrones season 8 wrap-up party but the fans of the show will have to wait till 2019 to find out how the show ends. Luckily, HBO has given the fans something to cheer about by announcing that they have greenlit the prequel series by Jane Goldman and George R. R. Martin!

Game of Thrones prequel writer Jane Goldman says her prequel will be "recognizable as a past event"

Here’s the full synopsis by HBO:

Taking place thousands of years before the events of ‘Game of Thrones,’ the series chronicles the world’s descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour. And only one thing is for sure: from the horrifying secrets of Westeros’ history to the true origin of the white walkers, the mysteries of the East to the Starks of legend … it’s not the story we think we know.

White Walkers spotted filming at Magheramorne Quarry set

This is really exciting as a show about the Age of Heroes will give us a glimpse of the lives of people like Brandon Stark, Lann the Clever, Durran Godsgrief and many more heroes. The synopsis also tells us that we will get to see the origins of the White Walkers and also find out why they turned against the Children of the Forest.

We will have to wait to find out more information about the prequel series. So far, Jane Goldman has mentioned that the prequel will have humour and gore and she has also mentioned that it will be recognizable as a past event.

These details hardly give us any insights about what we can expect but thankfully today’s announcement by HBO has given up a lot of information. What stories do you think will be covered in this prequel? Do let us know your thoughts about this announcement by HBO.
