5 Reasons why we can’t wait for HBO’s Game of Thrones prequel series: House of the Dragon

The moment HBO announced the Game Of Thrones prequel based on the Targaryens, we simply went bonkers and we are sure that a lot of Game Of Thrones fans felt the same. And why wouldn’t they?!! Afterall we are going back to the world of Game Of Thrones.

5 Reasons why we can't wait for HBO's Game of Thrones prequel series: House of the Dragon

We agree that the series could’ve ended in a better manner but with a new showrunner, while having George R. R. Martin‘s content to support the story, we can expect one mind-blowing prequel series. Here are the 5 reasons why we can’t wait for HBO’s Game of Thrones prequel series: House of the Dragon.

1. Back to Westeros:

We’ve actually missed Westeros since Game of Thrones went off the air in May. And we’re excited to visit Westeros and get a glimpse of how events in the past unfolded, that lead to the events that we witnessed in Game Of Thrones. It can’t get more exciting than this!

2. Conquest and Politics:

The major thing that pulled people towards Game Of Thrones was getting immersed in its world and witnessing who loved/hated/lusted after/feared/trusted whom. And now we’ll have a chance of witnessing it once again with new characters and houses, which takes us back to a completely different era which is based on George R. R. Martin’s book about the Targaryens, titled Fire and Blood.

3. Miguel Sapochnik:

Miguel Sapochnik directed a few of Thrones‘ most exciting episodes, including Season 5’s “Hardhome” and Season 6’s “Battle of the Bastards.” In season 8, he directed “The Long Night” (aka the Battle of Winterfell) and “The Bells” (wherein Daenerys and her forces destroy King’s Landing). He’ll direct Dragon and will be the show’s co-showrunner (alongside Colony‘s Ryan J. Condal, who co-created the prequel with Thrones creator George R.R. Martin), which gives us confidence that the prequel is in safe hands.

4. House Targaryen:

The prequel will take us back 300 years before the events that we witnessed in Game of Thrones and, per the official logline, it should chronicle “the beginning of the end for House Targaryen.” Everyone knows what people say about the Targaryens: When they’re born, the gods toss a coin in the air and the world holds its breath to see how it will land.” This means we will get to witness a lot of crazy events and people who will make Viserys Targaryen look like a sane person.

5. Dragons!:

When you talk about the Targaryens, you just can’t ignore the Dragons. We have seen what Daenerys and Drogon did in King’s Landing. That’s nothing in comparison with what Aegon and his sisters did with their 3 Dragons. Not to forget the Targaryen Civil War, in which both the sides had a lot of Dragons. What can be more epic than this?!
