ICYMI, during his bonkers press conference on Friday, President Donald Trump defended his refusal to end the government shutdown without getting money for his wall. He also stated, regarding said wall, “This should have been done by all of the presidents that preceded me and they all know it. Some of them have told me that we should have done it.”
Trump lies as easily as he breathes, and that statement just sounds like a whopper of a lie. So it should come as no big surprise that, yup, it is.
All four of the living former presidents (George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, Jimmy Carter, and Barack Obama) have now publicly called Trump out for his claim that they privately agreed with him about the need for a massive border barrier, according to the Daily News.
A spokesman for Bush, Freddy Ford, said that the former President had never talked about the wall with Trump. A spokesman for Clinton, Angel Urena, also said that Clinton and Trump didn’t talk about the wall, and added, “In fact, they’ve not talked since the inauguration.”
A spokesman for Obama did not want to comment but brought up a May 2016 remark from Obama in which he said, “The world is more interconnected than ever before, and it’s becoming more connected every day. Building walls won’t change that.”
And finally, on Monday, Carter denied Trump’s claim, saying, “I have not discussed the border wall with President Trump, and do not support him on the issue.”
Well, that clears that up. Yet another blatant lie from President Trump. Not like anyone is keeping score at this point.
