HBO reveals Episode Lengths for Game of Thrones Season 8

HBO is ending its silence on each one of those Game of Thrones last season episode length rumors. In the last few days, we have heard numerous reports about Season 8 episode lengths, with the lengths of the first two episodes released by HBO. Now, however, HBO has decided to reveal the episode lengths officially, via EW.

Here they are:

Season 8, episode 1
Debut date: SUNDAY, APRIL 14 at 9:00 p.m. (ET/PT)
Estimated running time: 0:54 | 54 minutes

Estimated running time: 0:58 | 58 minutes

Season 8, episode 3
Debut date: SUNDAY, APRIL 28 at 9:00 p.m. (ET/PT)
Estimated running time: 1:22 | 82 minutes

Season 8, episode 4

Season 8, episode 5
Debut date: SUNDAY, MAY 12 at 9:00 p.m. (ET/PT)
Estimated running time: 1:20 | 80 minutes

Season 8, episode 6
Debut date: SUNDAY, MAY 19 at 9:00 p.m. (ET/PT)
Estimated running time: 1:20 | 80 minutes

The first two episode lengths EW recently revealed. The last four episodes were recently announced by certain sites which found some covered up placeholder information on HBO’s site. Those lengths were precise with the exception of episode 3, which is longer than what was accounted for.

So the average last season episode length is 72 minutes, which is certainly on the long side. Having four episodes in succession around 80 minutes each, specifically, is viewed as a run of super-sized episodes. A few fans were annoyed with the fact that the last season episodes aren’t two hours each. In the event that they were pointing even near that long, they’d simply break them into two episodes. So the episodes were continually going to be not exactly the length of two ordinary length episodes joined. HBO added to the perplexity, nonetheless when it’s boss Richard Plepler depicted the last season in a meeting as “like six films,” alluding to their realistic quality, not length.
