Jon Snow’s Direwolf, Ghost returned in the latest episode but fans weren’t thrilled

Ever since Bran Stark became the Three-Eyed Raven in season 6, there has been a big mystery surrounding the role played by his character and how he fits into the sequence of events that have been unfolding over the last few seasons. We know that he can look back into the past and also visit places in the present without having to move an inch and we got a glimpse of his amazing but creepy powers during the previous seasons when he told Sansa about her wedding night with Ramsay and also told Arya that he had seen her at the Inn at the Crossroads.

However, that did not explain how he was going to fight against the Night King. Back in season 6, Benjen Stark told Bran that the Night King would find his way into the world of men and when that happens, Bran would be there waiting for him. So, all this time the show had been setting up Bran Stark against the Night King, while keeping his role a big mystery, untill now!

In the latest Game Of Thrones episode, Bran Stark finally revealed who the Three-Eyed Raven is and the role he is playing in the entire story. We also found out that the Night King was on his way to Winterfell just to kill Bran Stark.

Bran Stark made a big revelation about the Three-Eyed Raven in the latest Game Of Thrones episode

In the episode, all the important characters had come together to plan the defence of Winterfell, and Jon Snow mentioned that the only way to defeat the Army of the Dead was to kill the Night King, who controlled a huge portion of the Wight army. Bran then suggested that he would wait alone in the Godswood to draw out the Night King towards him and that’s when they had the best chance to defeat the Night King. He further added that the Night King had tried to kill a number of Three-Eyed Ravens in the past.

A curious Samwell asked Bran why would the Night King want to do that and that’s when Bran revealed that the Night King wanted an “endless night,” and that he wanted to erase the world and the Three-Eyed Raven served as its memory.

Sam quickly realized what Bran was talking about and he further added, “That’s what death is, isn’t it? Forgetting. Being forgotten. If we forget where we’ve been and what we’ve done, we’re not men anymore. Just animals. Your memories don’t come from the books. Your stories aren’t just stories. If I wanted to erase the world of men, I’d start with you.

This beautifully explained who the Three-Eyed Raven is and what the Night King really wants to do and this is a big piece of information that the show has revealed. We now know that the Three-Eyed Raven is the living history of the world and it’s his job to keep all the information safe and pass it on so that the world doesn’t completely forget about its past and that’s what the Night King wants to destroy.

Bran further added that the Night King’s mark on his hand ensures that the Night King always knows about his location and that it was important to use this to lure the Night King into a trap and destroy him, otherwise it would be impossible to defeat his army.

So, in the next episode, we will see Bran waiting for the Night King to come towards him and we don’t know if the King King manages to kill Bran or if Jon and others are successful in killing the Night King. It might also be possible that something goes wrong and the plan fails and the Night King escapes.

We just have to wait for the third episode to find out what happens. You can watch the preview of the next episode below:
